Today I’m sharing our top picks for homeschool high school curriculum.
High school curriculum doesn’t have to be intimidating.
Hopefully your child has a strong foundation on basic math and grammar skills by this point.
If not, I would take some time to refresh and catch up, no worries.
After you cover the basics of math, history, science, and language arts, you have room to be creative and add in electives based on your child’s interests.
To give you some ideas for your homeschool, I’m going to share what we are using for homeschool high school curriculum.
Homeschool High School Curriculum
High School Math
My children do really well with video math, especially since math isn’t my strong suit.
We like Power Homeschool for math and are using it for Algebra.
You can read my Power Homeschool Review to see if it’s a good fit for your family.
I especially like it for older kids and high schoolers.
Another route you could go would be CTC Math or even Teaching Textbooks if you need video lessons.
High School History
We have used so many history curriculums in the past and I have fallen in love with American History A&B from Power Homeschool.
The teacher is outstanding and the videos are really a must watch in my household.
I could sit and listen for hours!
We have all learned so much from the high school American History from Power Homeschool. I can’t recommend it enough.
If you didn’t want a video curriculum, my second choice would have to be Notgrass History. I love the material which is from a biblical world view.
High School Science
I am again one of those moms who likes video for certain subjects, especially in high school.
For science, Power Homeschool seems to be a good fit again.
I love the video explanations on the white board for my students.
Elementary science was super fun to teach when the kids were little but now I’m needing some video assistance. Especially in subjects like chemistry and physics.
If you don’t like a video for science, Apologia may be a good choice for you.
High School Language Arts

For us, high school is about diving deep into literature and developing critical thinking skills.
I personally do NOT like Power Homeschool for english. It seems dry and there is a huge lack of writing and literature in their language arts videos.
Good readers become good writers and you want to expose your child to good literature.
We are going with Total Language Plus for language arts and adding in Kahn Academy Grammar for a brush up on grammar.
I did a Total Language Plus Review detailing why I chose this curriculum and the pros and cons of it.
Sonlight also has amazing book packages if you want another language arts curriculum to investigate.
If you want a more textbook approach, you can’t go wrong with Bob Jones curriculum.
High School Bible
What critical years for our kids as teenagers. They need to know their identity in the Lord and be able to lean on it during times of peer pressure.
I have a list of Identity scriptures that are a must in our household.
As far as Bible Curriculum, we’ve used a lot of different things over the years.
I must say, having worship music in your home and discussing the Lord often will far outweigh any curricula I could lead you too.
We have Love Does by Bob Goff and think it’s wonderful for applying God to real-life situations.
I also recommend Moral Revolution The Naked Truth About Sexual Purity by Kris Vallotton. It comes with a personal journal to walk your kids through the importance of being pure in a sexualized world.
High School Electives
Electives in high school are so fun because you get to tailor the choices to your kids individual needs and wants.
I used Aceable for our driving school which we loved.
Kahn Academy has wonderful choices for computer classes and coding skills.
Power Homeschool has a long list of electives such as personal finance, plumbing, Microsoft Excel, business management, agriculture, and medical terminology.
Electives really need to fit your child and what they plan on doing for the future so take some time to add in classes that fit who they want to become.

Great read!!! Thanks for sharing such great blog, blog like these will surely help each and every homeschoolers in homeschooling their children in best way.
What a great group of resources! Thank you for sharing these! 🙂 I agree that “dry” curriculum options are NOT a go-to choice. They certainly never were when I was homeschooling my daughter. The links you provided are a great help, and I think I’ll use a few of them on my own website on my resources page. I wrote an in-depth article on Khan Academy recently because I’ve always appreciated their dedication to making education so attainable and for free! I know that’s a big deal these days, lol. Again, thanks for sharing these resources! I know parents will find them really helpful 🙂 https://truthinlearningacademy.com/homeschool-with-khan-academy/
