Are you looking for a free homeschool spelling curriculum for your kids?

For some reason, spelling is not my favorite subject. I’m not actually that great of a speller.

If spelling doesn’t come naturally to your child there are plenty of free ways to teach spelling.

Spelling is part of any good language arts curriculum but sometimes your child needs more focus in this area or you would just like to supplement.

Free Homeschool Spelling Curriculum

The easiest way to teach spelling for free is to keep a list of your child’s miss spelled words in a notebook or planner.

You can pick the 10 most common words you see your child misspell and practice those for the week.

This isn’t fancy but it is very effective. You could even write them on notecards for your child to practice.

AAASpell.com

If you are looking for spelling online, AAASpell has you covered. They have spelling lists for 1-8th grade.

Every spelling word on the lists has activities for your child to practice online. You can also make your own spelling list and print it out.

It’s an easy site to navigate and a good resource for grade level spelling.

Vocabulary.com

If you have older children and want to include word meaning Vocabulary is a great site.

It has plenty of word lists and their meanings for grades 5-12.

Plainnotsoplain

A fellow homeschool mom has created free language arts including spelling for many grades.

You can print out an entire grade level for free as a PDF. It’s simple and to the point spelling.

You can see all her free curriculum including spelling at PlainNotsoPlain.

Spelling City

Spelling City is a site dedicated just to spelling.

You can use the site for free including games and word lists, or you can buy a membership (very cheap) and remove the ads and make an account.

It’s a good choice if you want online spelling practice for all of your children.

Easy Peasy Homeschool

Easy Peasy has every grade and every subject for free but you can download just their spelling worksheets and print them off.

It will give you appropriate word lists for each grade and it can be done online or offline.

Education

Education.com has a huge spelling section broken down into phonics and site words for each grade.

Activities are done online using games and videos.

Used Spelling Power

Spelling Power is a huge book of each grade spelling list and placement tests. It is a full spelling curriculum for each grade k-12.

It’s really the only spelling book you would ever need for all of your children. If you can find a used copy it’s a very inexpensive way to teach homeschool spelling.

Many used homeschool book sales should have Spelling Power.
