I’m sharing a list of free homeschool math curriculum you can use in your homeschool and a few others that are very affordable.
Homeschooling offers a unique opportunity to tailor your child’s education to their needs and interests. Math curriculum is an essential component of homeschooling, but it doesn’t have to be expensive.
There are a number of free online or downloadable resources available to use, especially for elementary ages. Most simple math concepts can be taught using household objects for preschool and Kindergarten.
Many parents use a combination of free online math programs and workbooks or downloadable worksheets.
The amazing thing about homeschooling is you can find the curriculum that fits your child best.
That being said, you have nothing to lose by trying a free math curriculum, if you don’t like it, no harm done. We’ve switched math curriculums mid-year if it wasn’t working for us.
Many of these free math curriculums can be used as a supplement to reinforce math concepts in fun and engaging ways.

Free Homeschool Math Curriculum
Most of these free homeschool math curriculums are complete but a few would work best as supplements.
Each family will have a different combination of textbooks/workbooks and math games to help their kids learn.
Khan Academy
Khan Academy is a renowned platform offering a comprehensive range of math courses for students of all ages. With interactive lessons, practice exercises, and video tutorials, Khan Academy provides a structured approach to learning math.
The K-8 math curriculum covers topics from basic arithmetic to more advanced concepts. Khan Academy offers Algebra through Calculous and has ACT and SAT prep courses as well.
We’ve used Khan Academy in our homeschool often to reinforce concepts or if we get stuck with a lesson and just can’t figure out how to do a math concept.
It can easily be used as a full math curriculum for any grade.
The Good and the Beautiful
The Good and the Beautiful offers a free math curriculum that emphasizes a holistic approach to education. Their math materials focus on building a solid foundation in mathematics while fostering a love for learning.
The curriculum includes hands-on activities, colorful worksheets, and engaging lessons. The math levels are free from K-5th grade for anyone to use, the whole grade level is printable worksheets and it’s a full year’s curriculum.
It’s one of the best homeschool math curriculums for elementary ages.
Easy Peasy All in One Homeschool
Easy Peasy All in One Homeschool provides a comprehensive array of free homeschool resources, including a math curriculum. Their math courses are designed to help students develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts through interactive lessons and practical exercises.
The math courses are full of online math games, word problems, math facts practice, and downloadable workbooks for each grade level.
It’s a full homeschool math program that’s completely free for anyone to use.
Math Mammoth
Math Mammoth is a very affordable complete math curriculum and they also have a ton of free content for almost every level. Free online practice, free worksheets, and free videos covering multiple grade levels of math.
There are over 400 worksheets available for free download and samples of the full curriculum.
The actual curriculum available for purchase is complete and easy to understand and affordable.
MasterMath
MasterMath is a free resource that provides math courses for various grade levels. Their curriculum focuses on conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. With a wide range of topics and exercises, MasterMath allows homeschooling parents to create a customized math program for their children.
Most of the math curriculum is geared toward grades 6th, 7th, 8th, and Algebra. Each lesson comes with a worksheet, answer key, and an online quiz to reinforce concepts. The lesson videos are short and to the point.
This would be a great resource for those math struggles or just explaining a math concept your child has been struggling with.
Fishtank Learning
Fishtank Learning offers free math curriculum aligned with Common Core standards. The curriculum includes detailed lesson plans, worksheets, and assessments. It’s a great option for parents seeking a structured approach to math education.
This curriculum is meant to be a guide for teachers and has every lesson needs to be laid out in an organized way. It does require the parent to give the actual instruction of HOW to do the math problem.
Overall, Fishtank Learning is a good way to fill in educational gaps or if you are looking to make your own math lesson plans.
It does require a bit of legwork on the parent’s part to run it as a full curriculum.
Math Is Fun
Math Is Fun provides a collection of free online math resources, including lessons, interactive activities, and puzzles. The curriculum covers a wide range of math topics and is suitable for students of different ages and skill levels.
It covers every math concept you can think of in a fun and interactive way, perfect for younger kids or older kids with ADHD. Math is Fun is actually fun, making it a smart choice for kids who find math hard or boring.
This site would work well as a supplement to help children understand harder concepts from your main curriculum.
Plain and Not So Plain
Plain and Not So Plain offers a variety of free schooling resources, including a math curriculum. Their approach focuses on practical math skills that are applicable to everyday life.
Everything is a free downloadable PDF that you can print and put in a binder. It’s not as colorful as The Good and The Beautiful Math but if you are looking for simplicity, it’s perfect.
It includes grades 1 through 9 and extra math drills to get those math facts memorized quickly.
Ray’s Arithmetic
Ray’s Arithmetic offers a free arithmetic curriculum inspired by historical teaching methods. The curriculum emphasizes mental math and practical problem-solving skills. It’s PDF copies of the math books from 1877 and it’s completely free!
Each book covers multiple grade levels of math concepts and includes instructions and practice problems. I love reading through the story problems from the 1800s, it’s shocking to see how much things cost back then.
FlippedMath
FlippedMath provides free video lessons and resources for math education for high schoolers. The platform covers topics ranging from pre-algebra to calculus, with a choice to use common core teaching methods or traditional ones.
Flipped Math is actually a very complete curriculum with video lesson concepts and practice worksheets. It’s organized and broken up into semesters and units in an easy-to-understand way.
It’s a mastery approach to math, meaning you don’t move on until you fully have mastered a concept as opposed to spiral.
XtraMath
XtraMath isn’t a full curriculum but it is extremely useful for teaching kids math facts. Each child gets their own account to play games and memorize their math facts.
My kids used XtraMath for years and really enjoyed it.
Parents receive email updates on how the kids are doing with their memorizing. Having those foundational math facts memorized is vital for kids once they start Algebra.
Affordable Homeschool Math Curriculum
There are some math curriculums that are not free but are more affordable. I’ve also found used Saxon Math books at local used bookstores such as Half Priced Books or Thrift Books.
Many moms are eager to get rid of extra curriculum and we’ve bought many used math books over the years.
Masterbooks Math Lessons for a Living Education
Masterbooks Math workbooks are very complete and colored beautifully for elementary and middle school. Each lesson is easy to understand and practical. The consumable workbooks run around $35 for the year which is very affordable.
There are lessons that teach math concepts in a story form making them easy to understand and similar to real life.
This program isn’t the most rigorous but has basic math concepts at each grade level.
Spectrum Math Workbooks
Spectrum Math Workbooks offer complete grade-level education in math concepts in an engaging way. The concepts are up to date with state math standards per grade and there are tests included in the workbook to test understanding of math concepts.
There isn’t a lot of practice in these math books but you could use online games to help re-enforce the workbook curriculum.
Overall, the workbook sells for around $10-12 dollars and is a good place to start if you need a cheap math curriculum.
Christian Light Education
Christian Light Education is what we used when my kids were younger. I love their consumable math booklets which are broken down into units. You could buy a few units at a time and space out the cost if you needed to.
It’s a wonderful math curriculum and the total for the year runs around $50.
Rod and Staff Math
Rod and Staff Math is a fundamental black and white text math book written and used by the Amish, but I actually love them. Sometimes simple is better in the case of learning math.
These books are extremely affordable and can be reused year after year, they are not consumable. Rod and Staff curriculum has been around a long time in the homeschool community so it’s easy to find the textbooks used.
Homeschooling moms have a plethora of options when it comes to free and budget-friendly math curriculum.
From comprehensive online platforms like Khan Academy and The Good and the Beautiful to specialized resources like MasterMath and Ray’s Arithmetic, there’s a curriculum to suit every homeschooling family’s needs.
By exploring these options, you can provide your child with a quality math education without breaking the bank. Many of these resources can be used as a supplement for another curriculum as well.
