Disclosure: Groovy Lab in a Box kindly sent me this box for review purposes. However, all opinions expressed in this post are 100% mine.
Groovy Lab in a Box is a STEM box for kids ages 8+ that explores hands on science, technology, engineering, and math.
Most children learn science and math concepts best by using their hands to build or test something.
Experiments and projects keep learning fun and help to build memories in the brain.
This Groovy Lab in a box really brought out the nerd in me as I walked my children through the activities.
Each box contains themed investigations and engineering design challenges including a web based learning portal on the site.
Boxes can be completed by an individual student for with a group where students are given the “jobs” of speaker, materials manager, time keeper, and recorder.
Groovy Lab in a Box Subscription Review

This is so much more than just another STEM box!
Groovy Lab in a Box has a section on their website called Beyond that is full of teacher notes, lesson plans, games for children, tons of videos explaining and reenforcing the concepts in your box.
There are different lesson plans for lower level students roughly K-2 grade and higher level students ages 8+.
Each lesson/experiment from the box has step by step instructions as well as vocabulary words and worksheet material.
Groovy Lab in a Box contains full-on science lessons that can span about 8-12 hours of instruction total.
My Groovy Lab Themed Box
The theme of our box was IT’S ELECTRIC and it was loads of fun!
We learned about protons and electrons, static electricity, creating a paper circuit, and many other activities about electricity.
The Beyond portal that was linked with my box was very interactive containing music, computer games, lesson plans, and videos that were engaging for my kids.
There were even recommended books linked to our box to further the learning.
My kids worked as a team to complete the experiments one at a time with my guidence.
I got to see them take an interest in how electricity works as we went from experiment to experiment.
The booklet and lessons include vocabulary words and definitions along the way.

We got to watch Einstein’s eyes light up while we created a circuit out of the provided materials.
We learned about static electricity and how positive and negative charges attract each other.
It came with all the supplies we would need including the box itself!
Who is Groovy Lab in a Box good for?
It’s geared toward kids ages 8 plus but they do have some instruction for younger kids who want to watch.
If you homeschool, this box would be perfect for science. I think you could easily get 2 plus weeks out of each box especially if you used some library books throughout the box.
I have a daughter and she loved learning about the scientists as we worked our way through the box.
You can purchase just a single box or a year-long subscription to keep the fun coming each month!
